The First Disabled American Veterans (DAV Salem) Benefit Golfathon
for the DAV to keep our promise to care for our Veterans by empowering them to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.
THE EVENT
The day of celebration is on October 14th, 2018 at Topgolf in Hillsboro. Topgolf is not a golf course, it’s a new premier golf-entertainment complex that combines the culture and mechanics of golf with the comfort and social connection of bowling. The climate controlled environment, awesome buffet, and unique game-play make it a perfect venue for a wide variety of people who may not otherwise be interested in slugging-away on a soggy and cold Fall day at a traditional golf course. It’s a total blast!
WHY
The DAV currently has a budget of $2,000 total (no recurring disbursement). Dave works nearly single-handedly to provide vital services allowing Veterans to have the care and support they need. It’s our turn to give back to him so he can continue to serve our friends, family, and neighbors.
HOW
With nominal participation from 20 volunteers (or more), we can raise $50,000 (or more) for the DAV Salem! We need passionate champions willing to help us support the DAV and our mission to empower Veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. You don’t even have to be a golfer! This endeavor will not take a lot of time, and you can even win some great prizes!
You can be a DAV Golfathon Participant. Here is what we are asking you to commit to:
- Put Sunday, Oct 14 on your calendar to join us at Topgolf , 4 -7 pm to smash 100 golf balls and enjoy indulgent fun and food!
- Sponsor yourself for $100 ($1/ball) or more, payable in advance, and strive for a fundraising pledge goal of $2,500 (or $1,000).
- Give the ultimate effort to contact 25-35 friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc., asking them to sponsor you and strive for your pledge goal. This is much easier than you think, as people will be more than happy to support your effort and the goals of DAV Salem. This can be done in less than 5 hours (and we’ll show you how).
People give to people…so all you have to do is ask, and together we can make a big difference!
You can also be a “Team Captain”! We need 8+ Team Captains to accomplish the above 1 – 2 – 3 and put together a team of four participants (including yourself) and coach them up to success.
What if I don’t golf?
No problem! Topgolf is fantastic, casual and fun for beginners. Check out the Topgolf experience at the link http://bit.ly/2nPDivG and see for yourself.
What if I can’t attend the event on October 14th?
How is this organized?
This is a well-organized and fun campaign. The Golfathon website is the key to our success. It’s the easy-to-use place where you enter your sponsor’s pledge information, and it does all the administrative work for you. Our site will send your sponsors details on how/where they can pay their pledge, a thank you note, and tax deductible letter. Easy as tap-putt!
